"I love wine, but with the harsh
economy I've only been drinking the same kind of wine, large
bottles of Gallo Cabernet-Sauvignon. But, I have 365 days
to try at least 30 new different wines. The
conditions are simple: the wines have to be wines that I haven't
tried before - that is, from vineyards that I've never heard of.
Living in New York, there are many wine stores to choose from.
I'm also going to try to stay within the $5-$10 range."

List of Wines Completed:
1.
Chateau Les Dessins 2000 Premiers Cotes De Blaye
This is an eight year old red.
It is a bit coarse and has a somewhat bitter flavor. I
tried it originally with green cheese, but it fares much
better with a big dinner, something with lean meats and
pasta or potatoes. The bottle cost around
$11. It's 12.5% but feels very heavy, and I
feel it is something closer in nature to a Malbec, in
its richness.

2. Chateau Larose-Trintaudon
2004 Haut-Medoc
This five year old red is
delicious. It was around $11, and definitely one
of the most enjoyable wines I have tasted so far.
It has a very smooth yet rich flavor to it, and it is
extremely pleasant. I would say that if you are
ever having a fancy party - have this wine.
Natasha made a delicious fried duck with apples, fried
potatoes, and an amazing ginger salad. We finished the
wine with a delicious cheese, a Stratichunt cheese.
It goes well with meat, especially duck, and cheese.
